Ok, before I begin I would like to point out that I had/was a BellSouth FastAccess customer for a little over 3 years. They was very good to me, and provided me with rock solid service. Reasons why I left them will be explained below.
Now, on to the good stuff.
Here recently BellSouth started offering a much faster connection, 3 MB to be exact. While this new "technology" was forming, I for 3 weeks was unable to get it, maybe more, maybe less; either way a Bell Tech came to my house and told me, "Dude, you have the speeds to get the faster connection." so I called BellSouth and told them. They still denied the faster service to me.
Now, at the same time CableOne upped there download and upload speed to compete with BellSouth. They offered a 3 MB connection as well, so I decided to give them a try and see if I could indeed get those speeds. I called them Tuesday the 8th around 4:00 PM. Talked to the techs for a while about it, then I called the local office at about 4:45 PM. Talked to her for about 5 minutes, then we drove up to the office to get the stuff. They was closing at 5:00, so we had to hurry and get there before they closed the doors on us. We got there with about 3 minutes to spare. After about 10 minutes of filing out paper work. Probably would have taken longer, but I showed them that I was not an average user; so they didn't have to explain every single detail out to me. (Although if I hadn't, they would have.)
After I got the stuff, I got back home. Hooked up the cable modem and bam! I was online just that fast. This was around 5:30 PM now. I then proceeded to tweak my connection using the DSLReports tweaking tools. After about 45 minutes of messing with it, I reached a speed of about 28xx kbps. That would result to approx. 370 KB/sec download speed. This is over 2 times faster than my previous 145 KB/sec download speed with BellSouth. Plus I did not have to buy stuff that I never planned on using, such as a phone line for the DSL. I got Digital TV, with two boxes, and a 3000/300 kbps connection rate. Even if I had got the DSL connection with 3 MB, I am almost postive I would not have seen above 2500 kbps. That's because even though I had the 1472 kbps connection with DSL, I only got around a 1100 kbps in actual line speed.
Well, after playing with the cable for a while, it kept disconnecting me. So I called tech support. They guy was very nice to me, and he informed me that I was getting a very low signal on the cable modem. Well, this disappointed me. So I went to bed. Next day, I stated messing with it, and I was unable to get online, called them again and they told me they would be sending someone out. It came back on, and stayed on for the rest of the night.
Got home from work the next day, and to my suprise the connection was down again. So I reset the modem a few times, and played with the connection. Come to find out, the in line, on my splitter in my room was bad, and had come appart. So I pushed it up, and the tv cable got MUCH better, and I was able to get online again. (Cable Techs haven't even came to my house yet.)
So here I am, on DSLReports.com writing a review for a hopefully great service from CableOne.net.
Keep up the good work guys!

Well, I have been with Cable One for a couple months now and I do not like it. Sure, the speeds are fast, but only if you use the PC for short periods of time. Say if I was to download Linux, it would take longer to get; than if I was to download it on that BellSouth 1.5 Mb connection I used to have.
Although I only go above the limit a couple times a week, it's mostly when I am administrating my server(s), such as downloading the log files, updating the cheat protection or simply adding more stuff such as maps to the server.
Plus I have a couple "personal" web sites that I run, and it takes forever to update them if I have to upload alot of files. I don't even want to get to the pictures I upload, I have a digital camera that takes 1.3 MB pictures. I will take 100 or more of these at a time and upload them to my many sites, something that would take forever.
So the bottom line is, if you're a simple user; then Cable One may be for you. If you're a power user, or you use the internet alot then I'd go else where. Those caps suck.
P.S.
I realize that Cable One is just trying to prevent P2P file sharing, but in my opinion that's not gonna stop anyone. They have people using 56k to download files on those networks, you think a 1 Mb connection will stop them? I think not. Get a grip Cable One.

CableOne, if you can read this. Go ***** yourself.
So here I am, few years later and I'm back to AT&T now with there 6Mb connection. Having a few connection issues, but I blame the poorly wired house on that. This will all be resolved shortly and I'll be able to enjoy the 6Mb speeds for $43 a month. Sure beats CableOne's $45 a month for a 3Mb connection.
