Good, friendly local people who try to help. Sometimes they can. Today was one o those times.

A friendly, knowledgeable "Cable guy" showed up on time. He installed a new combo Modem/router that allowed us to use all our old settings and IP addresses. Made configuring out computers to work with the new hardware a piece of cake.

Our Internet speeds are now right at what we pay for.

Very pleased today.

CableONE Terrible Customer Service

CableONE installed all our internet and tv cable needs. When we went to increase our internet speed, CableONE found they had done some installing incorrectly, but treated us like we were the criminals. I have records to prove what installations were done, however, CableONE insists we are at fault and arbitrarily disconnected some of the services.

The Customer Service Manager at our local office lied to us and when we asked the name of her supervisor at the Headquarters in Phoenix AZ, she lied about the name of the supervisor. We called Phoenix and asked who headed up the Pascagoula MS office.

The problem is they are like a monopoly and are the only game in town.

Other customers in our area have also complained about the rudeness of the Customer Service at our office. One CS representative told a customer who did not want to subscribe to direct pay of her bill that she was "ridiculous".

Time to end the monopolies these cable companies have in regions and open it up to several providers from who you can choose.

Re: CableONE Terrible Customer Service

Better than simply one or two more cable companies to choose from would be a national nation-wide wireless system.

Now that's a stimulus program that would make jobs, make sense, and that would benefit everyone.

Well, not quite everyone. Guess the "only game in town" cable companies wouldn't benefit so much. . .

Check ISP lines, service and modem...

I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For cable Internet, RG-6 coaxial cable is needed, not RG-59. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. Ensure modem is working well too. Bad modems are out there as well. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

Re: Check ISP lines, service and modem...

RE TV and cable signal splitters.

1) Are TV splitters okay if they are beyond the initial point where the TV and cable signals divide?

2) Are ISP signal splitters okay?

3) On a cable TV/ISP system like cable one's aren't the TV and internet signals carried over the same coaxial cable?

4) Is there anyway a customer can tell which type of coaxial cable we have just by looking? By looking at the inside the house cabling? Or the outside the house cabling? Or both.

Just for the record, the house was connected to Cable One in 2013. All new cabling was used at that time even though there was older cabling present at the location.

2) Are ISP signal splitters okay? No as they tend to reduce signal levels.

Called a great tech from Cable One who came out and did everything Bimmer suggested. He checked everything, replaced a cable from the wall to the modem with the newer one mentioned, removed a signal splitter, registered the modem with Cable One, and then left while it was working. Within a few hours the dropped Internet connections started again. We still have several almost every day. Sometimes they last a few minutes, other time much longer. It's a mystery why this is happening ever since April 30th or so, but it still is. :>(

Re: Check ISP lines, service and modem...

Is this happing all day or during afternoon and evening hours? I'd call back support and have them review the time frames when you notice this problem. Maybe other surrounding issues causing this...

Re: Check ISP lines, service and modem...

It happens randomly throughout the day and evening. Even as early as 6AM some days.

I will call Cable One back on this and see what they show on their end. And will post back if there is any resolution.

Record time frames so you can let them know. Hopefully they will find out where the issue is.

This review needs a location

I'd put your location, an ISP review without a locale is useless to others looking for service.
