This is about my experience with Flashcom in northern New Jersey. I signed up for Flashcom DSL service in the beginning of January. They said it would take 4-6 weeks for Bell Atlantic to install the line. After 5 weeks the Bell Atlantic installer came and installed the line in about 4 hours. This was last Friday evening (2/18/00). Northpoint contacted me Saturday morning via email notifying me that Bell Atlantic did their job and that I would be contacted again shortly with a proposed date for the Northpoint tech to come out. Later that same day I received an email with a date for Wednesday (2/23/00). The installer's name was Tommy, and he did a great job in getting me up and running immediately. I had my network all set and after about 1.5 hours of him running the line and testing it we plugged it in and it was great. I bought the 416/208 package and I am consistantly getting 408Kbits/sec no matter what time of day it is. My only complaint with Flashcom is that it took about 20 minutes of hold time on average to get through to anyone alive. I am know setting my fiance up with DSL in her apartment and I have chosen Phoenix Networks to provide the service along with Northpoint. Through my research I believe Phoenix is a better ISP than Flashcom and has a LOT better customer service. I repeat, a LOT better... Flashcom would be a lot better if they could only improve on their customer service.
