I had Comcast for several years, 2 or more. They were fast and getting faster every so often. The thing is that the price was pretty stiff since I had to subscribe to basic cable or else pay extra for nothing. They eventually pressured me into upgrading my cable service to standard effectively doubling my cost. I would have stayed with them if they offered a $20 package for cheapskates. They didn't seem to mind that I was going to disconnect but instead smugly told me that I would be eligible for their "DSL win back promotion" at some point in the future. As if...

I signed up for the AT&T cheapo $14.99 DSL (768k) and it was ok but we are all used to the speed so I eventually upgraded to the next level at 1.5 MB. It is not earth shattering and its not expensive. I can get higher speed if I want, but I can't say that we need any more download, whats 30 seconds a couple times a month?

Anyway I still play games and DSL gave me lower and more stable ping times to servers I play on.

As for the 1-5 ratings, I did the self install and didn't need any hand holding so I gave them 3s if I had no experience with that aspect.

The only think I dinged them on is the crummy email spam flood and lack of useful web space. Its not that hard to give users generic storage so they can share pictures and video with family or just host your own avatars or auction photos. The system they use is locked down too tight for it to have any use for me, and probably much of their user base will be turned away by it (may be the logic behind it?)

Comcast wasnt much better but I got a small Giganews account and web space (but it was secure so linking was tricky).

AT&Ts usenet is a joke if it is even still functioning.

All in all I dont mind, I email photos and mail home movie dvds instead of uploading video files.
