    My Other Reviews·Covad Communications
This was a weird exp. When I called ATT to see what they showed on my line and they did not show that I already had DSL, even though I did already have it (COVAD, they are TERRIBLE!). So I went to the ATT website and ordered the Wireless Pro service (3.0 dn, don't know Up speed). I ordered the self install on the 11 th and could have had the service start on the 15th, but I chose to wait until the 22nd, I didn't know if the modem and all the equipment would be here by the 15th. Anyway the equipment arrived on the 14th. On the 22nd I installed the equipment, it installed very easily and I was up and running soon.

The only problem was how to configure my email to use my own email addresses (not switch to ATT email address) with ATT's service. It took 2 calls to talk to a Tech that knew what needed to happen.........they needed to open my port 25 for ATT access or something. And a 3rd call because I forgot to power cycle the modem/gateway after 24hrs to see if it worked. The 3rd rep I talked to knew exactly what I had not done after he looked at the record of the previous calls and I told him what I had done.

Overall it was a very good experience and the Techs were very nice and courteous. I will be paying $30.00 for DSL, was paying $24.95/mo for COVAD for 1.5 up that I was usually getting about 256 - 768 and a bunch of excuses as to why I was getting slow speed (too far from switching station).

As a side note: I had gone downstairs after I initially got the ATT hooked up and I was not down there 10 mins. b/4 2 guys knocked on my door from ATT. They were selling Uverse (fiber optics), so next week I am getting Uverse installed. I had also just been talking to my partner about how I needed new DISHnetwork equip. So now I am getting fiber optics and new Dish Equipment that will run off of the fiber optics. YaHooo. I will be paying the same for the fiber optics ($30.) and a little less for the TV side than DishNetwork.

    uverse vs dish

i think that you may be a little confused with the dish and atat thing. i work for dish, atat uverse is its own entity. dish network does not work through atat's fiberoptic lines. uverse's tv is specifically designed for fiberoptic, dish network uses coax to hook everything up. there is no connection (hardware, lines, etc...) between the two except that atat and dish are partners. basically if you cant get uverse in your area and you are an atat customer and you want tv, then you will get dish network. just thought i would clear that up.

    Re: uverse vs dish

another note, what you might be thinking of is getting a reciever through dish network that hooks up to the internet. these receivers are called atat homezone receivers. so basically if you are getting internet through atat uverse the internet connection will be hooked up in the back of the receiever via an ethernet line. though if you are getting uverse chances are you wont be getting dish since uverse is internet and television in one package. the only way that im aware of that will allow you to have both(minus uverse tv) is if you cancel the uverse and keep the modem for internet.
