    UPDATE - 9/9/08
Got my first bill! $35 no tax no BS fees just straight up $35.00000 NICE.
The dry loop is stable and running great. With Call Vantage on this line I now have DSL and tele for almost $55/month (19.00 + taxes/fees for CV).

Ok sucks is a polite word for what went down.
People at AT&T are very nice but also very clueless.
Local techs are cool and very good at their jobs. But some like to do drive by installations.

I lost service again, and was prepared for it so my POTs was down for a total of 3-4 hours.

My install is now complete. IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR POTS AND GET DIRECT DSL. Give me some of your situational details and I will do my best to direct you in the best path to take to avoid some of my problems. Good luck!

    Wow did that SUCK!

Ok I was scheduled for installation 8/2/08.
    1. AT&T came out on 8/1/08
(I was at work and had no idea they were there! Even after I got home. No messages no notes nothing.)

    2. Telephone and ADSL were both DEAD. Now I wouldn't have minded the telephone, but both left me with no options.

On Sunday AT&T came back out and turned my line-share ADSL back on (which brought my POTS back as well).

The AT&T Tech recommended I do the following:
    1. Request a dry dsl connection on a SEPARATE wire pair.
    2. Cancel my line share DSL.

Sadly that means I will lose my "free" ADSL modem... Bummer maybe AT&T would just let me buy it for the $80?

Oh well I will get it sorted out. Wow was the wife ticked at me....

Thanks to both David and ILpt4U for the private assistance they provided!

    My Current Setup:
I currently have "Wet" Elite DSL connected to my POTS #.
I also currently have Call Vantage on a separate #.

    My Experience:
I called both CV & DSL groups. 30min later both were pointing fingers at each other (somewhat expected).

I then called back later in the day. I ended up talking to 3 different reps. 1st with the DSL group and she seemed to understand what I wanted and said I needed to start the process with the disconnect group.

I was transferred to the disconnect group where I told the rep I wanted dry DSL & POTS so I could change over my POTS to VOIP (CV). She said she could do it BUT she knew someone had to be better suited for this process in the DSL group. So after a 5min wait I was transferred to a 3rd Rep. (Disconnect rep informing the DSL rep of my situation and what I wanted)

I believe her name was Debra (all 3 ladies were extremely nice). I was on the phone with Debra for about 30min while she ran a credit check and signed me up for the dry line.

The only strange thing was she said I had to call CV the day before the dry line install to start the port process.

I am 100% sure CV will sit on their thumbs until the dry line is complete, thus allowing them to port/cancel my POTS #.

So I am fairly sure I have to have the dry line installed (this Saturday 8/2/08). Then wait 1 or 2 weeks for the databases to update with all my current information. Then call Call Vantage to port my POTS number.

    As for charges:
Yes I had CV change my billing to the $20/mo rate since I am both a AT&T DSL customer and wireless customer.

Also my dry line charge was reduced since I am a wireless customer, elite package will cost me the standard $35/mo. (Usually +$10 if not a current AT&T customer with other services. I have wireless through AT&T)

So in all I will be paying 55/mo for elite dsl & CV.

Wow I just disconnected my Charter Cable modem which was $55/mo for 3M......

Wonder if I need to call the Wireless group to inform them that I am a DSL customer and see if they will reduce my plan over there as well!

To Ease the entire process (20/20 hindsight)
I would have followed these steps:
    1. Keep Cable Modem (or current ISP) until I have everything finished.
    2. Get Call Vantage and directly port my POTS #.
    3. Get Elite DSL Dry Line installed
Inform the DSL group that I am a wireless customer
thus receiving the -$10mo discount for multi svc
    4. Contact Call Vantage and have them reduce my bill by the -$5/mo for being a DSL customer.
    5. Cancel Cable Modem.
