The Brightport 8012-G1 has a diags page showing PPPoE is up, and authenticated; but no default gateway.
Unlike other COVAD-provided services, the "support" on this account seems to be outsourced to someone in India. After 2 hours on hold, finally got a person.
BUT their script won't let them admit there's a problem that they can't solve.
So they insisted on trying (time and again) reentering name and password on the PPPoE setup. They also insisted it was a problem with using a Linux or Mac laptop, using FF vice IE, and [honest!] the Ethernet cable to the Brightport might be too long.
The crux: they have no one with clue to escalate the problem to.

Alhambra, CA | Is it COVAD or ATT? No default gateway in the status page. How about IP and subnet mask?

No idea re: IP/subnet on the WAN side. Brightport doesn't reveal.

| Re: Is it COVAD or ATT? In the status page, it gives you the IP, subnet mask and the gateway. If you can see there is no into for default gateway, you should also see the IP and subnet mask info in the same page.

| Re: Is it COVAD or ATT? If only it were that simple. The 2nd Brightport worked but often failed PPPoE auth. I just left it in dumb mode and turned up PPPoE in the D-Link router. THAT was reliable.
But my rant was not about the Brightports as much as the braindead support; with no escalation options. | |
