I have a lot of negative feedback about AT&T since I first started service.
It all begins with their customer service. First of all, it's nearly impossible to navigate their website and find a decent phone number to call without having to be transferred. I've tried a dozen numbers which all lead to various locations as their mobile service number, a foreign office, their telephone service number, etc. None of which I wanted - I actually wanted to contact the Internet Customer Service. When I was able to find the correct phone number I was speaking to someone from the dial up office. So they transferred me. I can't imagine how difficult it is to transfer someone, but I was sent to another dial up representative.
Anyway, I can write a short story as to the escapades I went through to start my service. All starting with their customer service and ending with the hoops I had to jump to actually get my service on - which is more of an ordeal than I would have ever imagined.
What you really need to consider is what the lesser of two evils is. Your local DSL provider or cable provider. I chose to go with DSL over cable. Comcast is my local cable provider and I think I hate them more than I do AT&T Customer Service, which is basically a comparison of two rotten apples. At least I can feel comfortable with AT&T's no contract upon sign up and pricing. Cable companies are notorious for price gouging, applying monopolistic business practices, and piss poor service. So I could find absolutely no reason at all to support and fund such an entity.
In the end I did not get the service I wanted. Which is usually the case with Internet and TV. But I had little choice.
