I've had AT&T DSL for quite a few years now, and the connection is basically rock solid. I'd prefer a faster connection, but I doubt that we'll be seeing u-verse any time soon. AT&T's competitor in this area is Charter. A number of years ago, I was on a system that was purchased by Charter. The customer service went downhill dramatically over a 6 month period, and ended up staying at the new "Charter" level until I left the system. I decided then and there that the good folks at Charter would not be seeing me as a customer again.
I would probably try cable internet access if the carrier were anyone except Charter. So as unimpressed as I am with AT&T's customer service and speed, I'll stick with them until something better comes along.
