Good "Performance is solid. Current 12 month rate with no term is great."
- Location: Reno,Washoe,NV
- Cost: $24 per month
- Install: about 3 days
Bad "Signing up is a bit flaky. Do it online and watch for"
Overall "I recommend it. Performance is more consistent that Charter cable."
Here in Reno we have a choice of Charter cable or AT&T DSL Direct. I have had Charter service which seemed to be getting increasingly inconsistent. Since AT&T had a promotion through April 19, 2012 offering 6MB service for a 12 month period for $24.95 per month with no term, I switched. Ordered service online on Friday, bought a used Netgear DGN2200 ADSL2 Wireless router for $25 on Craig's List and the line was activated Wednesday morning. AT&T gives you 150 GB per month, then charges $10 per 50 GB over that.
So far everything has worked as advertised. All my speed tests are around 5 to 5.1 mbps down and 600 kbps up. Wish I had made the move earlier. At the end of 12 months the rate goes up the the "normal" price of $46 per month, but, apparently, there has pretty consistently been another promo to embrace.
