I got the system up and running on June 30th, 2003 and have had nothing but satisfaction since. Living 8 miles out in the country, Satellite was the only option for the past 5 years.....and even with its drawbacks, it was very good considering the alternative. Wireless though, gets rid of those drawback.......latency, slow upload and weather affects. I live 7 miles from the access point and have a FULL strength signal. I have LOS plus I'm 150+ feet higher in elevation. Speeds average 1MB up and down.....ping times are down in the 50ms range! Start up cost was $199 + shipping for the equipment....first month service was free. They retain ownership of the equipment. I had it setup and working in 2 hours or so....working alone. Could not be happier!!!!
UPDATE 7/30/2006 : I don't have this service anymore (got DSL Feb. 2005) but my brother recently tried to hook up with them with very little success. He is about 5 miles away and has LOS with the access point so we didn't think there was much need for a site survey. After hooking up the antenna, we could never get a signal stronger than "low".......then he lost it. He called them and they were going to send a guy out to check things.......he never showed up (even after 2 calls to them)........my brother canceled the next day. There is a "slight" chance he'll be able to get DSL.......if not, there is another wireless company that provided service in that area.
