Just recently converted from Comcast Cable to SBC DSL. For one reason only - cost. I'm not a download freak, so the speed drop is not that big of a deal. The ordering was easy - performed the online order with the self-install option. The promised 1 week to the line being hot - only took 4 days. Same time to get the modem. The only hiccup I had was that their software (which turns out I didn't need and didn't actually install) - it kept telling me that my NIC didn't have TCP/IP bound, which it did. After a quick phone call to tech support I got the URL for the registration site - took care of all that. Used the FAQ here on DSLR to convert my modem to a bridged device, re-configured my router and was all done, ready to go. Very smooth transition. Hardest part has been notifying everyone of my email address change
1.5/128 package (have been seeing 1.2/384)
26.95 for first year
Speedstream 5100 w/DHCP address
Update ~3 years later. Service has been rock solid. No outages from SBC/ATT end. Cost is lower than listed above. Got 1 year at the $14.95 rate, now at $19.95. No complaints. Great part of the service - free Pro upgrade at flickr.com!
