I got SBC Yahoo dsl installed 5 months ago to replace an expensive Comcast cable connection. I got the Pro-dynamic tier for 3Mbps/512Kbps. I can usually get 2.5Mbps/450Kbps so I am happy with the speed. The package arrived, I hooked it up, I waited 24 hours for my line to be ready, I transferred my network over to the new router. That was it, no problems. I use dyndns.org to host my domain on a web/email server and once I got port 25 unblocked everything was cool.

I wish the connection was faster at times, but for $25/month I'm not complaining. Compared to my Comcast bill at over $60/month this is saving me a ton of money.

    **Update 2/22/06**

Through various promotions my line is now $17.99/month. The speed is consistently near the cap - PPPoE/ATM overhead. I have no complaints other than I wish the Expert Plus package was cheaper as it is a LOT more money. I've run my email & web off of this dsl line for over a year with no problems whatsoever.

    **Update 4/3/06**

I just signed up for the Elite tier 6Mbps/768Kbps for $29.99/month. Phone call took all of 4 minutes and 3 days later my speeds increased dramatically. I'm still pissed about the outage that occurred last week, but the speed upgrade is fantastic and the price sure beats Comcast.

    **Update 03/17/07**

I recently upgraded to Elite Static for my home office so I could host my website and email server without relying upon DYNDNS. I was having issues with my IP address changing every week or two and it was messing with my IPSec VPN tunnels. Since I updated to Static, my tunnels have been rock solid and my life has been easier. Unfortunately for some reason SBC charges a TON for this package, with all my discounts it's $79.99/month, $50/month more than the Dynamic Elite package. They did screw up my billing, effectively charging me for 2 DSL lines as Static connections are officially Business level services. One 75 minute call to SBC and I finally found somebody who could help me and they're taking care of it.

    HI...

The expert isn't available to most users so even if its cheaper, it is pointless. I'm paying 52.00 for 6.0 including USF and I think it is an overkill. You should be happy with 3.0/512, BS users are paying 37.95 for 3.0/384 and it has less upload.
