    My Other Reviews·SONIC.NET
I dropped this IP following multiple marathon telephone conversations to Mumbai & CA. My modem had died. I called to get a new modem. AT&T/Yahoo insisted that I ask AT&T to send out a technician to check my line. They were adamant, and were unwilling to go forward until I had done so. The tech arrived; plugged into the interface, and said that my line was fine, as I had already insisted whenever the opportunity arose so to do.

Following his visit, for which I was billed $55, AT&T/Yahoo finally agreed that my modem was dead. However, since I had it for over a year, they informed me that I would have to pay for a replacement myself. (Had they told me this at the start, the entire conversation[s] could have been avoided.)

I am challenging the charge. Notwithstanding the outcome, I will never again do business with this, (these), company, (companies). AT&T & AT&T/Yahoo may be "co-branded" but they are totally separate entities without any knowledge of their fellow co-brandee's business.

    FYI

Actualy you was talking to AT&T. AT&T Yahoo is not a seperate ISP, per se. It is only available from AT&T. The co-branding is that AT&T provides the data connection, beit via Dial-up or DSL. While Yahoo provides the content, i.e. email, photos, music, ect... And while the first live of tech support is outsourced, and where most of the complaints come from, Level 2 is all USA based. I sugest that in the future, you utalizize the AT&T Direct forums for assistance. Its run my verified AT&T Tech's (Level 2 & 3's) and has a higer success rate of resolving issues to your satisfaction.
