I had ATT Yahoo for almost four years (formerly SBC Global). After recently moving, I considered using DSLExtreme or Comcast Cable. However, they require a term committment. ATT Yahoo does not.

Comcast's posted pricing was an "introductory" offer. After introductory term, rates shoot up to $60 a month or more. DSLExtreme pricing is term too, but pricing is constant I believe, not "introductory."

Time Warner I did not research. I don't know if their posted rates are "introductory" rates. However, I know someone who is happy with it at $25 a month with 1 year term contract renewable at same price.

Regarding ATT, ordered $25, month-to-month, 384 up and 1500 down package. Did the order online. Attached it to my phone line bill. Ordered self-install. A Motorola DSL modem was supplied with the self-install kit. I was charged, flat-fee, of $49 for that item. Sad, since I have about 3 dsl modems. But you can't order self-install without the modem. Oh well. Installation went smoothly.

I don't need 5Mbps. Most twitch games don't require more than 256Kbps upstream anyway. XP Remote desktop works excellent at ATT's rated speeds. I am at least 4 miles from the CO and still get 1.2Mbps, which is acceptable when overhead is factored in.

With the kit you get a nice piece of diagnostic software for connection and email settings. It is on-demand software, and does not operate in the background taking up clock ticks, or interferring with daily operations. You get to decide when it comes into play.

Overall, a good experience. If it were $20, it would be a tremendous value.

BTW, I think ATT ccontracts with 2Wire for some of their technical services in my area.
