This area has two options for broadband: ATT and Charter cable. (Excluding Hughes.net).

Two years ago I had Charter (for several years) cable, but they upped their rates several times, would not 'negotiate', and I went to ATT, and got Dish for TV.

Costs: AT&T Internet: $30.00 per mo., AT&T POTS (local & LD): $42.92, Dish TV: $50.35 (basic)

No regrets thus far. Speeds at "Pro" level are 2516/429 consistently.

Lately, the Charter mailings with bundle offers are coming fast and furious. Charter is offering Internet/TV/Phone : $69.00 for one year. Very Tempting.

    Well..

AT&T hasn't raised my basic hardline in years-still around $15.00 a month(un-limited local service, no long distance. Thats what my cell phone is for).
Same thing with HSI-$36.00 a month for the "Elite" service. Has been that way since August '07.
Charter? They just raised my premium channels by $3.00 a month. Just like last year.

    Re: Well..

Thanks for the info. I'd prefer to stay with ATT. Any idea how difficult it is to drop their long-distance?
