I was skeptical of moving my 2nd voice line (used for my SOHO) to vonage but with the rebates for the linksys adapter (free after rebates) and the pricing plans ($15 for 500min to $25 for unlimited residential) plus the advanced features that Vonage offers and SBC couldn't even touch (VM with website access, advanced call forwarding, callerid plus others at no extra charge) I had to give it a try.
I wasn't disappointed. The install was painless. Calls are very good, as close to landline and better than wireless service (which in my house, living in a historic neigborhood of Chicago, is pretty much non-exisitent since towers are few and far between here). My SBC landline phone number transfer happened in less than 10 business days without any prodding from me at all (a vast improvement from the earlier reviews it seems). I was paying around $40-45 for my 2nd line with SBC so I'm very happy with the switch and the added savings. The website is slow at times and the voicemail indicator on your phone sometimes stays on eventhough you've listened to all your new messages but these are being addressed and are very minor.
Bottomline: If you have two lines and you would like to get advanced features and $ savings to boot, give Vonage a serious look.
