I have been using Vonage for over 13 billing cycles (1 year 1 month.) It's great. I have had issues in the past with choppy audio that was due to the horrible connection with Optimum in my area. After moving with Comcast into a new apartment (getting married!! ) My Vonage works flawlessly now.
The difference with Cable VOIP and Vonage VOIP is that Cable VOIP reserves a special amount of bandwidth for there VOIP service, so even if the Cable is suffering the Voice won't be effected.
Since Vonage works off pure data on the Cable or DSL line it will suffer when the Data suffers.
The Tech support there and Customer care are very nice people and have a lot patience, if they keep you on the line for awhile they are still trying to help.
Suggestion before getting Vonage VOIP is to be educated about VOIP in case issues happen so you know why it's happening.
In any case, I love it.
There are so many features (15) that honestly for 27 dollars a month and 15 features you cannot beat it. ------------ After 18 months of fun. I am proud to say Vonage is still working as good as Day 1. Even better so due to the fact I moved to Comcast in my new Apartment with my wife. They don't suffer from packet loss like Optimum does. They may get it here and there, but it's minumal. As sson as FIOS comes out I am going for there TV and Internet package. COME ON VERIZON!!!
