Ordered Vonage on 1/18/07 since my Verizon telephone bill was $189.97. I requested that my number be transferred and the transfer was completed on 1/26/07. Since I had Verizon DSL service bundled with my landline service, I had a few days to use it, then my DSL service was also cancelled. I was contemplating getting cable, or staying with DSL. DSL was much cheaper so I stayed with it. So I had to wait about 2 weeks to get my dry-loop DSL activated and my Vonage service back. Since Vonage has the "Network Availability" feature, I didn't miss any of my home phone calls as I had them forwarded to my cell phone.
I haven't had any problems with the actual phone service yet. Every call I've made has gone through, and every call I have received has gone through. No drops or anything. I am using Verizon dry-loop DSL (1.5/384) at 18,000 feet on Line 1, so, a cordless phone system is pretty much my only option (I do not know how to wire phone jacks). Only 2 of the 5 phone jacks in my house have [dead]Line 2 wired between them, so I have my adapter plugged into a splitter on Line 2 on one of the phone jacks. At the NID, I disconnected Line 2 from the CO though, just to be on the safe side.
