I was fed up with my local telco not being able to correct the problems with my traditional phone due to outdated, poor infrastructure in my older neighborhood. Not only was the voice quality bad, but DSL was definitely not available, and dial up wouldn't even work properly due to the high noise levels present on the telco lines. After rewiring the entire phone system within my home and several unsuccessful tries to get the telco to rectify the problems on their end I discovered that the local cable company offerred high speed internet services in my area so I signed up and immediately signed up for Vonage VOIP service. The setup was a snap and i was making calls within a half hour of purchasing the Vonage adapter (Linksys RT31P2). Furthermore I was able to connect the Vonage adapter to the internal wiring in my home (disconnected from the telco) and utilize all of the phone jacks that were already there.
I have been a customer of Vonage for about 3 and 1/2 years now and am fully satisfied. I can call anywhere in the US without the BS long distance charges. I even took my adapter with me when I visited my brother in a different state and still received calls! I have recommended Vonage to my friends and family and they too are satisfied customers.
