When we punted our verizon pots line out the door about 6 years ago, we used only our gsm cell phones for all voice traffic. About 18 months ago, we got a Vonage low cost line for e911 & to take some load off of our cell phones. Hook up was easy---after having been assigned a # that someone else had ported away from Vonage; took about 2 wks to get that straightened out. Front-line Vonage tech staff are not helpful; they solely read from scripts and repeat what you said to them back to you. Escalated Vonage Techs (here in the USA) are well informed, polished, & get things on track very quickly---Strong kudos to them! The rating above for Tech support is only for escalated tech support; entry level tech support is worthless. Voice quality on calls was just ok-----------until I read a tip on DSL Reports to adjust the bandwidth; now the voice quality is stellar. Truthfully we don't use the line a lot (hence the low monthly cost for free incoming but 3.9 cents/min outgoing) but find that Vonage provides a great value & quality, particularly compared to the dinosaur telcos who still come at customers with attitude. Vonage website is very intuitive & helpful. Overall, I'd strongly recommend Vonage.
