I contracted with Flashcom on 1/14 to provide me with a dsl line (416/208). After five weeks of waiting and hearing of some of the horror stories I began to get nervous. I called the "customer care" dept and was one hold for more then a hour before my arms gave out. I tried later on and the same thing happened. So I decided to email a not so nice letter( I was ready to cancel and start from scratch again).After another five days they finally sent me an email back with an installation date.On the seventh week Bell Atlantic came out and did there part and two weeks later Northpoint came out and finished the install. I was very lucky cause both showed up as promised and I had no problems. After the install I was having problems getting it up and running. I called tech support three times( onhold no more then twenty minutes) the first two passed the buck to Northpoint and the third tech finally figured it out that there was a problem with the configuration of my ethernet card. To bad i forgot his name because he went through the whole process with my computer other then the usual putting in your i.p address and so on. I am happy with Flashcom but there lack of people on the phones and their lack of a progress report on when and how is less then to be desired.Any good company would have their phones answered within 15 minutes. If they cannot do it then it is simple ..Just hire more people. Being put on hold for over an hour is unacceptable and just poor business practices.Being put on hold forever just got me more pissed off .In short Flashcom needs to :
1: greatly expand their customer care service
2: call people back when they say they will
3: update customers as to the status of their install.. five weeks with out even a peep from them is totally unacceptable
Alot of problems and cancellations could of been averted just doing these simple things
