    My Other Reviews·T-Mobile US
Picked up P8's DTA in J&R - this way I do not have a 12-month contract because I paid for my DTA. (Rebates still available, though. )

»activate.packet8.com - new account setup takes 30 seconds, cost nothing.
Activation code arrived immediately via email.

Let'see this working! First time installed at the company: it did not pick up the DHCP. No way, restarted 10 times, different outlets but nothing no way, nil.
Wandering around did not help so I finally entered a fixed IP - didn't help.
Last try: restarted DHCP server - voila'! Power LED stopped blinking, remained steady red!

Activation is a no-brainer and ready to go.

First call is fine, second also - then 3rd doesn't ring. Called my cell phone but nothing.

    Weird.

    Bit later tried again: NOTHING.

    Tried my colleagues' cell: NOTHING!

    What the hell is this?

UPDATE: After few days (I'm quite busy usually) and half dozen restarts now it's working fine. A good advice: keep in mind NOT TO USE 011 for international calls - just simple dial, strating with the country code. Int'l calling quality just as good as nat'l: it's absolutely OK by me.

One question: why some phone reps keep telling me I'll be under contract for 12 months after the first 30 days? I did purchase my own DTA and also asked this specifically BEFORE I bought it - and pre-sales answer by P8's phone rep was, NO, I'll be free to leave at any time if I bought my adapter.

2007 January UPDATE: everything is working fine although now I have a HSDPA-enabled PDA phone so I use Skype when I'm out but P8 still works fine home. Ah and 911 service arrived more than a year ago, of course and only added some $2 and they also introduced some sw-based calling etc etc...

2007 August: 3 days after I updated my CC# and they charged me SDTILL NO SERVICE and it is IMPOSSIBLE TO CALLTHEM: they have THE MOST FREAKIN' ARROGANT AUTOMATED PHONE SERVICE THAT AFTER TELLING YOU THAT NO ONE IS AVAILABLE, HANGS UP ON YOU.
Same goes with the online "live chat" - hung up on me, with the same message.
Ah did I mention 8x8 Inc flies so high you can't even call them on Sundays???

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I am leaving this PoS support behind, together with P8.
