I walked into my local Cablevision store, dropped off my old cable modem and picked up a new one (Motorola SBV5120) that includes built in VOIP (no gizmo needed). After trying for about an hour to get the new modem and phone number registered and working online (and I'm very good with these things) I finally called CV tech support and they did it for me in about 5 minutes. After that everything works superbly. I'm not put off by that at all, I accomplished getting my new VOIP up and running about 2 hours after I made the decision to do it! We elected not to port our old number.
I had Sunrocket and we all know what happened there so I feel this will be a reliable VOIP provider and I'm sure it will; being from Optimum Online/ Cablevision.
Best Wishes

I, myself, have digital phone which works great, no issues, I forget I am using an internet phone system. | |
