We have used Skype in our family with the video feature. Makes my daughter in Atlanta feel like she is closer to the family. Now here husband's family is going to get it so they can use video from up in the northeast.

I also have the SkypeOut at $3 a month for unlimited call to the US and Canada. What a deal that is! We also have a number so people can call-in with regular phones. So for about $60 bucks a year, we have a cheap back-up phone and video calling (basic Skype to Skype calls are FREE).

Quality of the calls has been very good. We are happy with Skype. The only thing I would improve is how you have to dial a US call. 001XXX5551212. Why the zero zero before the 1 plus area code plus number.

July 2012 - Not using Skype Out any more since I use CallCentric mostly for outbound. Still use Skype for calls to other Skype users.

December 2012 - Pretty much moved to Ooma for calls. Skype not a serious option until you can port numbers in and out and connect a standard phone to a skype TA that does not rely on a computer. Still use Skype and Facetime to do video chats with some friends. CallCentric still used with my softphones which is really nice for high quality audio on these endless conference calls.
