I ordered the Time Warner Triple Play on the 13th. By the 16th, I had Internet and Cable TV. Since I opted to get my number ported, I was given an install date of the 25th for Digital Phone.
On the 20th, I received a call from Time Warner telling me that the order for the porting was rejected. I acknowledge that that was my fault due to the Verizon account being under my mom's name and the Time Warner under my dad's name. Fixed that and got an install date for the 31st.
Today, they came to my house. Installed the Digital Phone without a hitch. Due to the very last minute, I had Verizon. Then, the tech called and ported the number. NO DOWNTIME!! Made a test call to some friends in California ( long distance from NY) and it was working beautifully!
So far, very pleased with service!
Update: 5/20/06
Two months later and still happy with my decision to drop all connections with Verizon. Not only do I get all my services under one bill, but the customer support is great! If I call 611, someone picks up immediately! Recently, there was an emergency, my mom dialed 911 and someone responded immediately!! Great!! The service has been rock solid and the only thing I can say is that there is a 2-3 second delay from the time I hang up to the call being actually hanged up. But I can live with it! Love the free long distance as I can now call my cousin to Puerto Rico without having to use my cellphone and wasting my minutes. My dad also used his cellphone to make long distance calls, not anymore! Hopefully, they will add the on-screen caller ID and also offer a low-cost second line. I also took on whole house VoIp. After canceling my other line with Verizon, I disconnected all wiring. It was a breezy since the installer had left a special phone jack installed. Just some rewiring and bam! Thanks Time Warner!
Update: 09/30/06
Service still as good as what I signed up for. Lost some points on the rating because I was trying to get International Calling unblocked, and it was a hassle. They assured me that it was unblocked, when it was blocked. Whatever, less money for them. Also, the website only allows you to see long distance calls, not all calls like other. Lost some points on value for money because others offer more feature and website rich services. Still sticking with them because of call quality and the fact that the VoIp never touches my internet bandwidth, which is a great plus, difference between a clear and choppy call. Thanks TWC, now get me On Screen caller ID and 3-way calling, and fix your website!

Time Warner in NYC is garbage for their triple play. Out of curiousity, whats your blazing fast cable modem speed? 384 or 768k LOL. I love when these cable companies rip on DSL speeds then cant deliver the speeds themselves.
.. and by the way, you can get unlimited local and long distance from Verizon for $30 a month now in NYC. Its not even worth switching to voIP anymore and sacraficing the reliability of a landline.

| I cannot stand cable companies either. I too prefer DSL (FIOS > DSL >>> Cable) But why rip on his good experience with Time Warner? You should have seen his come-back coming a mile away. | |

| Re: . No its not a rip, Ive seen TWC's advertisements for their triple play for $99 a month. In the fine print its 368k for "blazing fast internet" haha Makes me laugh. $30 a month extra for a normal speed broadband.. not sure the deal is as good as its supposed to be. | |

| Re: . Thats weird.. Is your moms line a business line? All NYC residents can get the unlimited calling "Freedom" package which is now $30 a month. For someone to have the $15 768k DSL and unlimited calling should not be more than $60-65 a month after taxes and fees. $80 a month w/ 3000k down dsl. | |

| Re: . $30/month for unlimited analog land-line is a great deal. Here in the Bay Area, California, I was paying $76/month (including taxes) with SBC for phone service only. Now AT&T has taken them over so I am not holding my breath for things to get better. I switched to VoIP last month through my FIOS ISP, Paxio (www.paxio.com). Now I pay $48.50 (Fiber service with symmetric 12Mbps/12Mbps) and $28.50 for the VoIP portion. Stateside, it's crystal clear; overseas, it's pretty good, certainly not worse than SBC and usually clearer.
How is it that places in Long Island have Verizon FIOS before Manhattan???

| Not cheaper than Verizon Time Warner's VOIP is not cheaper than verizon. Verizon Freedom Essentials is $34.95/month or $39.95/month (outside NYC). Also Verizon Voicewing (voip), which offers the exact same stuff as time warner voip is only $24.95/month for unlimited calling. | |

| 3-way 3-way is offered to Mid-Ohio customers free but you have to sign up on their website to have it turned on. It also can take up to 5 business days it says.
But having International block turned off is a pain. I have family that lives in UK we can't call their cell phone if we need them for something we either have to wait or use my cell phone.

| Re: 3-way Yeah. Other markets have it. They were going to push it out here in NYC, along with faster RR speeds but the power outages pushed them back. Why is international unblocking so difficult? -- Who Cares? I Don't. Neither Should You.

| Re: 3-way For 3-way keep looking on the TWC website for NYC. They're should be an ad on the front page for it when its available; it would be one of those that rotates. But when I asked about getting the block off again they said it can take up to 3 business days but T3 is the one that handles it. You may one to ask directly for them. But really no answer on why it is blocked. I asked them why not just leave it unblocked until someone wants it blocked. Especially if the people that use is is a very low percentage. | |
