Sun Rocket Experience
June 18th (Father's Day)
I ordered the $199 Two Year deal and received my confirmation email soon thereafter. One thing I really liked about the online order process is the fact they give you a link to the federal Do Not Call Registry and allow you to not get listed in directories. This will save a lot of hassles in the future.
I logged into my account at SR and set up both phone numbers (primary and anywhere) with voice mail. I also turned on the distinctive ring for the anywhere line. I called the number to set up the voicemail and then turned on the anonymous call reject.
June 19th
I got an email so I can refer friends and family to Sun Rocket on a 2-year plan for $199 (through 6-25) and earn Rocket Rewards. This will get you gift cards and such. Its cool but I was hoping to see that my Gizmo was sent out. Not yet.
June 22nd
I got an email from customer service that my Gizmo is being sent UPS ground from Maryland. They included a shipping number so I can track the package anxiously.
June 23rd
I received my official invoice. I have paid $199 for 1 year and get a second year free. They do this so if you cancel after the first year you get nothing in return.
June 26th
My Gizmo has arrived. I am going to set it up right after dinner and see how it will work. Who knows? Maybe they will replace Ma-Bell.
From order to online eight calendar days (six business). Not too bad. It would be better if they could get that down to about three business days but I am not complaining.
after dinner
I installed the Gizmo between my Comcast cable modem and my router. I used the VOIP service and it worked. I am not totally sold on it yet.
The internet pass through to the router seemed to drop and the only way to fix it was to disconnect the Gizmo and remove it from service. I can play with things to get them to work but I wanted to act like a typical home user with limited computer knowledge. I intend to play with it some more before I pass full judgement but right now I think they have come along way but it is not ready for anyone with less than a technical college degree.
I will update my opinion in the future.
