    **Update 03/17/07**

I've still got service and haven't had any issues at all. My wife uses this line as a long distance line to call her mother and hasn't complained at all and we know this is the most important thing. I also use this line as my home office fax line with pretty regular success which is unusual for a VoIP line.

    **Update 8/9/06**

I have had Viatalk for a while now and the service is very good. I have a BYOD SPA-3000 and this service has passed the wife test with flying colors. I even recommended it to some friends who were looking for a second phone line for their talkative kids. I'm impressed with the level of service that can be provided for $8/month. I can't wait for my nuvio contract to be up so I can port my business line to ViaTalk.

    **Original Review**

I signed up for the $199/2 year promotion on a BYOD level of service. It took 72 hours to provision my account and get my SIP credentials. Upon configuring both my * box and then my SPA-3000 I realized I couldn't receive phone calls. I ended up troubleshooting this for a few days and then finally submitted a trouble ticket. The support rep I talked to wasn't the greatest however he tried awfully hard and was obviously swamped with calls. I decided it wasn't that big of a deal and said we'd take care of this later.

A few more days went by and my ticket was still open so VTBrendan said to PM him and he'd take care of it. Apparently I was actually provisioned to another SIP server than what I was told. As soon as I updated my SPA-3000 everything worked beautifully.

I cannot attest to reliability yet as I've had working service for 48 hours and have approximately 800+ days of service left before I have to pay again.

    ViaTalk Service

I have been using the service since January 06. Started with the 199 plan and BYOD (Polycom IP600)The only problem I ever had was when ViaTalk upgraded to there newer servers I was not immediately notified that the proxy server changed. I called received the updates and about 20 mins later I received an email with all the updates.
    Customer Support is great.

I just opened another account for my main phone line at home. 199 plan 24mo. Great deal. Took only 10 days to port my number from Qwest to Viatalk.

FYI Tech Support is located in the US.

    Re: ViaTalk Service

I've had some config issues with my SPA-3000 and have always gotten prompt responses. I secretly put our home phone system onto the SPA-3000 so that any 10-11 digit dialing goes out the viatalk line and any 7 digit and 911 goes out the pstn line. It confused people a bit however the caller ID was my name as is out home line and it didn't cause any problems. I got very cheap long distance now on my home phones.
