When SR went down, I chose VT, since they were offering to pick up a year of SR contract. VT had pretty good reports of service and quality in the past.
I could have used my BYOD modems from SR, but for the few $$, chose to get theirs and get up and running immediately....Glad I did, as everything worked immediately.
I'm probably alone with this thought, but instead of conjuring up more and more features to program and support, for me, good solid, reliable talk and listen phone service would suffice. A few basic operating features..call wtg...forwarding..CID...Fail Over...would be enough. I see the quest for too many features actually costing the provider more and maybe bogging down the service and support..
Update..
In the big picture, I am still quite pleased with VT. The service for me, has been very solid, and the price is certainly attractive.
Update 04/19/2008..
The service is beginning to slip. Many of the features either don't work or are not reliable.
You have to shuffle around looking for a server somewhere that may work. Calls get lost and end up in Voice Mail, when VM is working.
Lots of people leaving for other VOIP companies. Many more would leave, but they are locked into their prepaid contract or are into the free year..
Update 05/10/08..
As I said many times, when it worked, it worked well...but for the past month it hasn't been too good for me. I signed onto VOIPo and got connected immediately...calls are crystal clear.
