    Update 1-14-07:

I downgraded the reliability rating. The service was out the evening of 1/11/07 and required multiple re-dials to reach me on the evening of 1/12/07. I need to use the number in a classified ad and it isn't reliable enough. For the ad I ended up purchasing a virtual number through VoicePulse instead. They are reliable.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:

I migrated to ViaTalk after being a SunRocket refugee in July 2007. I was looking for another back-up/2nd line to my VoicePulse main line.

Even though I ordered during the SunRocket mess I was very lucky to receive my new account info within one day and my adapter within three days. I was up and running in no time.

Calls for support yielded an excessively long wait only once. Nonetheless, after awhile I ordered Priority Support for $1.95/month. I don't really need it anymore because I have not required support in awhile. Still, it is nice to bump to the front of the line with this "service".

Overall I have been pleased with the service. The call quality is excellent. Unfortunately, my calls occasionally get dropped in mid-sentence. I'll just hear a fast busy signal and have to call back. For awhile it was a regular occurrence but now it is only occasional.

The monthly charges of $2.50 for "fees" (e911 and nonsense "Regulatory Recovery Fee") and $1.95 for priority support are a bit annoying. I really think that "fees" should be included in the prepaid price when prepaying. I got the 2 years for the price of 1 $199 promotion. There were about $30 of shipping fees on top of that as well as the $2.50 per month.

The CEO's presence on these bulletinboards is a big help. His awareness of problems shared by many yields action that might not occur with just individual phone calls to tech support. Individual support representatives do not have a big enough picture to see what is going on in the system - a picture that is provided with these boards.

The feature set is comprehensive and continually evolving. Currently fax-to-email is being tested.
