First, I would like to state that this review is not to bash ViaTalk in any way. As a matter of fact, I have been with them for about two years now and intentionally withheld reviewing them because I wanted to see them succeed.

Without going too much into detail, I will just say that I cannot deal with the inconsistencies of the service on both mine and my mom's line any longer. This is the same problem that I had with Sun Rocket, which is why I left them three weeks after signing up with them.

To me, ViaTalk feels more like a beta project rather than a professional operation. I signed up with CallVantage today, even though I still have a year left on my prepaid ViaTalk line. My only problem now is how do I tell friends and family that I referred to ViaTalk that I have stopped using them?

That's the way I see them also ... Beta at best, but maybe even more like an Alpha. Certainly nowhere near RC state. I have 3 VoIP providers. 2 of them run flawlessly, and VT is inconsistent at best. The CEO always just blames users' ISP, instead of looking into their problem.

Many of "my" problems could be easily traced to the provided equipment (or more accurately, VT's inability to properly provision it). VT seems to work fine for me as long as I use my own device. This allows for multiple servers to be entered for failover control on my side, as well as not being concerned with the incorrect settings in the provisioning file. Using VT's equipment, and provisioned, I think there may have been one period of three weeks that was pretty much problem free. Besides that, I was lucky to go three days provisioned with working service. Using my equipment (and the correct settings), I haven't had to touch the device since setting it up. The company is very disorganized.

I didn't want to post anything negative, but I just want others to know what to expect before ordering.
