    After couple of months of moving in to our new apt, we tried to do the whole cell phone only route with no "landline", we noticed we were using our anytime mins for the smallest things and cell phone calls kept on dropping.

    After doing couple of days worth of research I discovered ViaTalk's unlimited 1 year service for $199 + fess plus get the second year for free.

    the total cost came out to
    $199 for the service
    $30 for activation
    $10 for shipping for the LinkSys PAP2 ata box
    $3.50 x 24 (mons) ((initially this was $2.95))
    total = $239+$84 = 323/24 = $13.46

    the first week, the service SUCKED.....but......that wasn't ViaTalk's fault. The connection to the ViaTalks servers kept on dropping. After couple of calls to tech support, which btw, picked up in less than couple mins, turned out my router wasn't able to handle all of the tcp/ip connections I was throwing at it. So I picked up a WRT54GL and upgraded to the Tomato Firmware and ever since, had no issues with any kinds of dropped connections.

    I was feeling very proud of my new find and purchase until my world was turn upside down. I discovered MagicJack. Boy do I wish I knew about this service just couple of says sooner before I order ViaTalk. For $40 a month you.....nm...check em out at www.magicjack.com

    Over all.....I'm very happy with ViaTalk VOIP service. You get like 30 features, a "second" line for free and what I love the most; e-mail notification when you receive a VoiceMail. I would highly recommend this service, but MagicJack is good too. Both my father and friend are using it now. (but it's a new start-up, so lets see how long they'll last) Also, for any VOIP to work, you need a good broadband service and a decent router to be able to handle all of the TCP/IP connections.
