[Sep 1/08] Well, it's been a year already. Haven't really had any problems to report so far.
Recently I had troubles connecting, and I got in contact with support, who was nice enough to call Bell and ask them about what happened for me. Downtime was minimal to say the least . Thanks again TSI! Keep up the great work.
[Aug 13/07] Just updating to say that it's been a month already at Teksavvy and everything is still running like a well-oiled machine .
[July 14] Small update. Just bought a 2wire modem, turned off its routing features so I can hook up my D-Link wireless router to it. Works like a charm. Now I don't need Bell's SpeedStream 5200 any more. Finally rid of the last piece of Bell Sympatico equipment, yay .
[July 11] So after my fiasco with Bell (see my review on Bell Sympatico on why you DON'T want to deal with them), I've finally decided to use Teksavvy after much research on the DSLR.
The switch from Bell to Teksavvy was seamless. I was quickly connected with a sales rep, no delays whatsoever, no voice menus to go through. I asked the sales rep a few questions, and he answered without a problem. Then I give the sales guy my cancellation number, he fills in the forms and takes care of everything . I haven't dealt with customer service that lives up to the term in a while, and Teksavvy certain does live up to it.
In addition to the 29.95/month unlimited service (GREAT price and no contract), I decided to also order the static IP for an extra $4/month. My bill comes out to $36 after taxes, which is still very reasonable compared to, ahem, Bell. And I get newsgroups binaries with that $4, something I haven't been able to do for years since my Rogers days (when they still had Usenet but cancelled it because they claimed Usenet was old and was storing kiddy porn.. what an excuse). Yes it's capped at 1mbps, but still, for $4 it's great value and you can't have it all at that price.
My service was actually activated even BEFORE the said activation date. Bell still hasn't given me a return sticker yet for my modem, so I'll just use it with my router and input my Teksavvy details in there to handle my connection for now. I will use my own 2wire modem once I can get down to Canada Computers to get one.
Everything is running smoothly, I can't complain at all. I just regret not being a Teksavvy member sooner. Great job to you guys over at Teksavvy for making this happen for me . I hope I'll be a customer of yours for a long time to come.
I think I'll write more on this review about connection stability and reliability a few months down the road. It wouldn't be fair for me to say it now since I've only got the service for a day . But I don't anticipate too many problems.
