    My Other Reviews·Bell Sympatico
    ·Rogers Hi-Speed
    Hello,

I've been a high speed internet user since the days of the Nortel 1-Meg Modem platform offered by Bell in the mid-to-late 90s... before PPPoE reared its ugly head.

Teksavvy (TSI) is a company I have difficulty finding fault with. They strive at every turn to provide an excellent service, and are highly communicative with their very supportive and active user base.

They strive to deliver exactly what they sell, and implement no traffic shaping or other rate limiting devices. Unfortunately, they must suffer the occasional interference of Bell Canada as TSI leases the so called "last mile" to connect their subscribers into the DSL infrastructure, and also lease high speed links from Bell's DSL systems to their own routers which then in turn connect to the internet.

Bell has recently implemented traffic shaping and has even more recently positioned these devices on the network in such a way as to throttle their ISP customers like TSI. This has the unfortunate effect for the end user of providing a throttled experience.

Unlike Bell, TSI is fighting this practice and indeed seems to be gaining momentum in this movement. When I learned of this, I called Bell to cancel my account and have since transfered my account to TSI.

I'd rather pay the company who fights for its users than the one trying to fight against the very essence of the internet.

I know this isn't a typical review - but suffice it to say, as far as DSL in Canada goes, Teksavvy is just about as good as it gets!
