I was with Sympatico for a year or so. Then came the traffic shaping. At that point, I was paying for the 16Mbit service and never even coming close to that speed. Well maybe after 2AM until 7AM but that was ridiculous. The bottom line was: I was paying over $100/month and getting download speeds of 30K/sec. There was no value to having this speed and being unable to make full use of it. Even though Teksavvy was also being affected by Bell's traffic shaping, I didn't hesitate to switch. I cannot give my money to a company that dictates what people can download and at what speed. Even though Teksavvy is 5Mbits, I don't feel like I've downgraded whatsoever. For one, The connection is far more stable. Second, with the amount of money I'm saving, I can use a usenet account for most of my downloads. Third, if I ever need to talk to someone, I know that person will be Canadian and paid a decent wage. Unlike Bell and their outsourcing. God knows what they pay their employees in Dubai or wherever .
