I am out in the country and don't have cable as an option. When I was in the city I tried cable and it sucked. I had an unlimited account with Bell Sympatico that was about 6 or seven years old. Bell had some accounting problems that did get resolved but then the throttling started. I do a fair amount of work on residential PCs and I have gotten real tired of dealing with Sympatico's offshore support for simple issues like passwords and such. I don't use them myself but with work it sucks and many of my customers will call me rather than talk to them. Then when I found out about the actual workings of DPI plus Bell started using it DPI on third party ISP's I decided to cancel Bell. Home phone, Sympatico and Sat.

I had to do my home work to make sure that it all went ok but it did I now use Voip for home phone and Teksavvy with a dryloop. They are good enough that it is almost like they are not there and that is high praise from me.

I purchased my own modem from Kingston Computer Planet a TPLink 8610 that with my wireless router works very well for me. I paid 69.00 for the modem and it is an ADSL2 so if it ever rolls out here I am good to go.
