    My Other Reviews·Rogers Hi-Speed
I just signed up for Teksavvy in the past week or so. I had gotten fed up with Rogers' new cap they added this past year (after being a customer for nearly a decade), and so I had went out looking for a new home.

In the summer, my mother moved out of her house, and needed a new ISP (she had been using a local cable provider). So, when asked, I recommended Teksavvy because I had been considering it for myself. Well, everything went awesomely for her. She got signed up, had human support dealing with the issues she had had with Bell (apparently some completely forthright and honest Bell salesperson had signed her up for Sympatico without telling her), and in general had no issues at all.

So, once I got my first $25 overcharge from Rogers in the fall, I decided it was time for me to jump ship as well. Everything went smoothly, except for things that Bell had done wrong. The modem setup was a snap, everything worked perfectly after just plugging it into the phone line, and plugging the other end into my home network.

The only real difference I noticed was that the speed and latency were slightly lower and higher respectively. I went from 7M on Rogers to 5M on DSL, and with a bit of extra latency. This isn't a complaint, but it might disappoint people who switch. If you switch from the Rogers 10M service, it might be more noticeable to go from 1.2M/s downloads to 600K/s downloads. That being said, you can only download stuff at 1.2M/s for a week or so before paying more anyway...

Also, In the space of a few hours, I got Tomato/MLPPP on my old router, set it up, and everything just worked -- Bell's line filtering was completely gone. I didn't have to ask permission or anything, it took like five minutes. I'm now allowed to use my whole connection as I see fit without worrying about getting overcharged.

As for support, it's godly. After dealing with the Kafkaesque nightmare that getting anything done with Rogers was, being able to come here, post on an internet forum, and get real TSI techs taking care of me -- I can't express how alien it feels to get real, competent support from an ISP.

And it costs less per month than the Rogers service I was paying for. I can't say enough good things about this service. I'm still worried that there's something I'm missing and they aren't actually this awesome.
