It's officially been one year since I've had FIOS and I can say without a doubt that the service is amazing. The reliability has been 100% - no slow downs, no downtime, nothing bad. I am now on the 20mbps/20/mbps symmetrical service and the upload is amazing. I have voice and data for only 99$/month. I think anyone having a 20/20 connection with any other service provider would be paying over 200$, so the price is amazing. The only thing that I can find to complain about is the email service...your emails only last on the server for 30 days, after which they are deleted. Not a big problem as I have just started to use outlook again. Thanks verizon for the great service!

It's been almost a year (this November will be one year) that I've had the FIOS 20/5 service and I still have never run into any downtime, slowdowns, glitches or any other problems with the service OR with billing - billing has been excellent. Everything has been excellent and very reliable. I would never ever think of switching to another service, unless Comcast could offer lower prices, equivalent or greater speed than 20/5, better reliability (which is impossible because it's been 100% reliable) and no invisible bandwidth caps. This service is by far the fastest and most reliable internet service that I have ever had, and I've used 4 different providers (verizon dsl, comcast, earthlink, aol) and three different services (cable, dsl, dial up). Keep up the good work Verizon FIOS!

I woke up and the speeds were 20/5, perfect. At this point I couldn't be happier. The service has not gone out even once and the phone service has been clear. I'm just waiting for FIOS TV. I also might add, that the most likely reason why verizon upgraded our speeds was because comcast has upgraded most of the state to 16/1 on their highest tier for speeds, so I think verizon just wanted to make sure that their speed tier was no where close to comcast's.

I learned about the new speed upgrade on sunday, the day before they even released a press release on the front page of the verizon site about it. I ordered the new speed upgrade from 15/2 to 20/5 (for no price increase) at 9:00 AM, however the CSR could not find it after 20-30 minutes on the phone and told me I would be called back once they found the upgrade. Sure enough about 30 minutes later they called back and said it would be active within 24 hours. I'll post an update tomorrow once the upgrade is in place. One thing I thought was interesting, was that some users have ordered the upgrade later in the day and have received it already, yet i ordered it in the morning and still have not. I'm assuming it's all about where you are located.

I ordered the 15/2 service, instead of 5/2, for 44.95$/month. Unfortunately the 20/5 tier is not available in Massachusetts, but 15/2 is still better than anything cable could have offered.

Now to installation. The tech arrived at around 10:00 AM and immediately began working on installing the ONT, BBU and Power Supply on the location that I set up next to the Power Panel. He then helped the other technician who showed up after run the wire from the street up to my house, which was about 800 feet he said. The fiber cable reached the ONT with literally feet of slack, which means if it was a few feet shorter, they would have had to splice the cable at the nearest pole to make it longer.

The only negative during the install was while drilling a hole for terminal end of the fiber cable to fit into the house, they accidentally hit the existing cable inside and cut into it a little. We simply replaced it after with a spare i had, so it didn't turn out to be a big deal.

After attaching the fiber to the ONT and disconnecting the phone from the Copper line, they cut down the copper at the nearest pole and then connected the phone to the fiber. We had a business line that was not on the order to be connected, so it was down for about an hour during the install while folks at verizon added the line over.

When the main phone line was back up, they proceeded to run cat5 cable from the ONT upstairs to where the router for the cable was. Instead of drilling a new hole, they used the existing outlet and just used a double outlet plate so that cat5 and cable are on the same outlet. We then hooked up the router and computer and it was ready to go as soon as it was connected.

During the whole installation process, the techs were very friendly and accommodating to any request, such as any specific place where we wanted the wires. The install took just under 4 hours to complete with no problems besides the cable being slightly cut. If I didn't have any TV from cable (we have both satellite and cable) I'd just totally take the cable out, but for now we need it. I'm very satisfied with how the install went, the work ethic and hospitality of the install techs as well as how the service is. The real big difference, other than almost 3 times the download speed (15:6) is the upload speed (2mbps: 384kbps).

Thanks to verizon for taking the initiative and deploying this great service.
