    My Other Reviews·Sprint Mobile Broa..
First I do installs of DSL, ADSL, SDSL, ISDN, T1/T3 and cabling For a Living. Why do I say this, I am very choosey about how installs are done. Called Verizon on Tues. 12/19/2006 at 4:30 pm. I did this after watching a Fios install at a clients employees home. Ordering took about 5 minutes. Because I am not using there phone service, we did C/C payment option. Initially asked for social security #, but when I said rather not give, it was np on their end. Was scheduled for a Friday 12/22/06 8-5 window. I no Issue as I was off that day. Get a call weds from Verizon and they asked if we can move it up to 12/21/06 from 8-12. I said NP. And sure enough they were there at 8:30. 2 Techs, came to door, introduced themselves with name and handshake, explain in layman’s terms what they were going to do and gave me a time estimate of about 4 hours. They ran the cable from across the street by itself to the roof of my structure.

They mounted the unit outdoors. When the tech initially tried to install the unit outside, the concrete did not want to cooperate and we were left with 4 holes in the wall. He did move it up to a wood siding area and it mounted well.

They mounted the battery backup in my living room near an outlet, I didn’t mind as it is a small apt and the unit was not going to be into plain sight, but they did offer to put it anywhere where they could get power, My computer and router are in my bedroom area, so the ran a cat 5 from the unit to the computer area.

They handed me a router, but said I was DHCP so I could continue to use my SMC, but I am keeping the Verizon Action Tec router as Verizon just got TV rights in the adjoining town. (Big Router). We verified the signal with my laptop and speeds were as promised. 20000 to 21000 down and about 4200 up. With that we were done and we bid farewell to the techs. I did have to call Tech support as I wasn’t able to get a signal using either router, and was picked up by support in less than five minutes. She rebooted the router remotely and we were up and running. It really was my fault for not releasing and renewing the ip’s.

After they left and did my release and renew the SMC came up fine and I was back up and running. Had I remembered to do the release & renew my total down time would have been about 10 minutes.

Be satisfied with all, I went out to clean my work van and while cleaning it I see the Verizon tech driving up to the house. I figured he left a tool or something (I often forget tools) but he told me he was back to plug the holes with spackle as he did not have any on his truck, he went to home depot and picked some up. He patched the holes and to be honest once it dried you cannot see where they were. Overall, Very happy with install. Glad to be rid of Cablevision. One Note: Verizon techs have told me the free install will be gone soon. They will start charging in the future for installs.

    Good Attention to Detail

Wow, they even patched the unused holes? That is true attention to detail and a professional job.

It sounds like the FIOS crews have been told as part of their training to do it right/do what ever need to be done as the whole company's future is being gambled on how things go in the next year with there FIOS installs.
