Well, I`ve been watching them install fiber on the poles here in my area for at least 6mo now, and finally the fios qualification site told me it was available.

I ordered, and got an install date 3 days later. I had multiple correspondence on the phone, from VZ to confirm the install date, and was called by the installer's manager 24hrs before my install. Two guys did my install, they were efficient and professional. No complaints there. I had quite a long run, they had to use a 300ft drop, though I thought it was a longer run than that. I had a little issue with my verizon email address, the tech alerted me to that, and I had to call VZ to resolve the issue. 10mins later that was done..

Speeds are as advertised, (5/2 package) I get 5.1mb/1.8mb on my speed tests, though I dont just judge only from speed tests. Overall surfing is quicker than my old 3mb DSL line.

I will update this review if anything changes.. Otherwise I am quite satisfied with this install.

    **update 5/17/08

Been installed since the beginning of Feb 07, and I was down once, maybe twice for a max of 15 mins. Speed is still great, and doesnt fluctuate with peak net usage times. I tossed the actiontec, working great with my linux router. Just waiting to get it at my workplace now.. soon..

    *** update 7/20/08

I upgraded to 10/2 for an extra $4/mo. Very happy with the service, not one outage I can remember, even overnight.

    **** update 7/12/09

I upgraded to 15/5 for an extra $2/mo. Had to talk to Retention and give them a little 'social engineering' dance about possible termination to make em drop the price from 12$ more. But, it was hella worth it, I`m now receiving approx 25mb down, and 10mb up. Who knows how long it will stay this way, but if it does, I may have to drop Directv and grab me some fiostv... hmmm

Oh, have had not one outage in the past year.
