I ordered Fios when it became available on 8/11/08 and my install date was 8/20. Since I already had Verizon wireless and I don't need a landline, I opted for the Flex triple play (Wireless phone + 20/20 internet + Extreme HD). The internet and TV costs $92/mo in addition to my wireless bill which doesn't change.
    My extras:
    All movie channels: $30.00
Home Media DVR: $19.99 (free for first 12 months)
    HD STB: $5.99
2 Cable Cards: $8/mo (see below)

The install was very smooth. It took about 6 hours because I was the first install in the area and the ONT wasn't seeing the light. The tech was very helpful and neat, and actually cleaned up a whole bunch of extra cables and junk that Time Warner left attached to my house.

My first problem was with the cable cards for my TIVO. My tivo needs either one Multi-stream card or two Single-stream cards to work. I explained the difference when ordering and was told I would get an M card. Unfortunately, the rep was wrong, and I got an S card. It took OVER A MONTH of dealing with customer service and being transferred everywhere before I finally got a second S card and got my Tivo working again. Very frustrating.

    Internet:
The internet is just as good as it gets. I consistently get speeds of 19.7 down and 24 up, and latency seems to be lower to every server in the country compared to Time Warner. The actiontec router is a headache and constantly crashes whenever I play video games online through Steam, but there is an FAQ in the fios forum with a workaround so you can use your own router.

    TV:
The channel selection and HD video quality are great. I have the 6416 DVR so SD video quality isn't as good as it should be (It looks better on my TIVO HD which proves that this is a problem with the 6416 DVR. According to many users here on the forum Verizon knows about this problem and is working on it).

The biggest problem with FiosTV is that the guide info is completely unreliable. Every couple of weeks my DVR will miss a show that it was supposed to record (sometimes the guide will show the same episode description as the previous week so the DVR will think it's a duplicate, sometimes it will have the wrong start time, and sometimes it won't even show on the guide). This is a nuisance that my Tivo doesn't suffer from. It ruins an otherwise excellent product.

Overall I'd recommend the Fios service, but if you need a reliable DVR stick with cable or get a Tivo.

    Sunrocket

Update the router firmware to at least version .126. That has the fix for Sunrocket ATA. The auto update function on the router was not working, last I heard. »www.fiosfaq.com/index.php?action···atnum=12

    Re: Sunrocket

I got Sunrocket 3 days ago after switching over from Vonage. I have FIOS, but was able to eliminate my FIOS D-Link router and connect directly to the Sunrocket Gizmo via the Cat 5 cable coming out of the oustide "converter" box. You can eliminate the FIOS router only if you configure the Gizmo to enable PPPoE.

    Good luck.

Installs for the last 9 months are DHCP, not PPPOE.

    @verizon.net

    No problems here

Even if you don't want to hear it, yeah, mmm Verizon in not there to trouble shoot everyone of the hundreds of gizmos you dweebs put on your internet connections. I don't have any of that crap and guess what, in the many years that I have had HSI I have never experienced a single problem.

    default gateway

One significant gap on the 424 router is that you have zero choice on your default lan gateway. The internal router IP must ALWAYS be 192.168.0.1 - unlike every single other router out there. VERY poor architecture.
