I have had verizon fios since 3/16/2007 FIOS Phone TV and DATA 20Mbps/5Mbps installer was nice and installed everthing ok until he got to the HD DVR and had to run coax to it and drilled a hole in floor in middle of my hallway into my den verizon as of 4/27 still has not fixed that issue either
Other problems with my services Now onto DATA since then i have had 15 field techs to home I have gone thorugh 3 ONT 3 actiontec wifi routers old actiontec firmware and new verizon firmware made no difference also have been switched from Moca to ethernet to Moca over and over they said they even moved me to a different pon card but that did not help also said they cleaned my fibers at CO also no good my highest download speed is 4530Mbps and upload is 2321Mbps speed keeps tanking to lowest 300kbps in both directions techs have been out and tested with there laptops direct to ONT data port and still no good also have replaced all wiring at home also techs keep telling me to call fiber solution center since must be issue at CO but they tell me on phone we just need to keep sending techs even though 15 techs not fixing must in my mind tell my something is not going on at home and is CO issue also then asked neighbors about it and they noticing it also but VZ says they are on different pon cards so thats not related (but must be) today 4/26 they moved me to different splitter in hub and different distribution wire also and replaced ONT again and still no good on techs laptop still under 5 Mbps
Now onto TV TV has issue on HD channels I am seeing banding on channels except 802 banding is a small flickering white line at top of TV and on 809 I also see a white or blue bar on left of image. They replace my HD DVR and still no good FSC told me and tech its bad ground to ONT so tech replaced ground and still not good tested with HDMI and component did not make difference also tested HD DVR on other HD TV but no good
Now onto Phone Echo on phone calls and intermin crackling they have pad down my ONT but issue still happening
WHAT ELSE CAN BE DONE TO FIX MY SERVICE ONCE AND FOR ALL SO I CAN START TO PAY MY BILL

@verizon.net | Switch to cable FIOS is going thru growing pangs. You will have slow and dropped connections and Verizon techs are clueless as to why.
Stay with cable for at least another 2 years for FIOS to work out its kinks. | |

I'm a bit surprised though that they're having you call the service center. Seems to me that they should be escalating this in house and doing that for you.

Knowing a bit about fiber optics and fiber optic cables, once a single fiber stand breaks there are a multitude of other fibers in the optical cable to take up the load. And if the cable was to have a cut in the line NONE of it would work. Since it is not a conductivity/electrical information transfer but an optical/lightwave guide technology, I don't see it being a "fiber issue". It could be a switching box or the house's copper wiring but not the fios external lines.
Until we start wiring our house with completely fiber optic lines we will never truely utilize the full potential of optical fiber. And as time goes by with lower fiber losses, better attenuation, better multiplexiers, and amplifiers. systems like FIOS will truely run circles around any copper/coax cable system. | |

| Re: Just making sure... fixing your floor is simple.get the foreman out & he will make sure it is fixed.as far as the trouble with the speed did the tech try a speed test with his own laptop?lots of times the customers computer is the reason you may get a bad speed test.make sure to go to verizon & optimize your computer.it can make a big difference.are you going wireless?use speakeasy.net to do speed tests they are the most reliable.also have a tech make sure the dropwire is not bent sharply it will restrict the speed.I have installed around 500 fios jobs over the last 2 years & never had a problem [1 to 3 % of all jobs]I could not fix.sometimes it just takes some troubleshooting or another tech with a fresh approach. | |

2 edits | Re: Just making sure... I have fios 30/5... and at one point some months ago my upload speed dropped to 2 for a few days. I called support and it turned out that someone had accidentally changed my upload speed provision. During the support call, they made an adjustment on their end and in 10 minutes I had my 5 upload back. Based on your posted speeds of around 5/2 I wonder if you've been provisioned incorrectly at the main office? They do have a 5/2 package in some areas.
You said the speed keeps tanking to 300... is that only on your PC or the techs' laptops as well? What speed test/test site are you using for testing? Are you running a mac or windows or linux?
Also, let me ask, if you go to »myspeed.visualware.com and run a few speed tests to your closest test location, what is your quality of service rated at? | |

NMCs and all so far have not a clue and say they replaced everything. So you post was negative since I am actively working with them to get there business/technology in order. | |

want to get a better rate,,, yes, all the broadcasters rates are going up in 08, but only by a few $$ .. with Comcast looking at cablevision n 08 , Verizon is trying to capture many customers with great offers and locked in rates, cable is under pressure loosing 500+ customers a day to Verizon, the only way they can keep their customers is through the disconect /retention department,,, usually they can only offer a 6month promotion, BUT,, if you call or schedule a installation with Verizon,, have a work order number... "" you call that department with cable,, tell them you want to disconect, tell them you are going to Verizon,, and give them the order # from Verizon-FIOS of all 3 services.. they then can offer you a 1yr. ( NEW ) promotion,, or in some areas out in LI, a 2yr is available..  want the lower rates before they go up- call today, get the work order number from FIOS - on ALL 3 services,, and they can make the offer, or else they can not do it.. the pepople who work there are under a lot of pressure, so much pressure, they keep having high turn over every month, due to the large amoutn of disconections,, look in the paper, every week for the past 6 months, they are allway hiring,, why is that,, they don't want to keep employees, it's cheeper for them to get rid of them and hire new for less,,, they will do what ever it takes to get rid of an employee after 6 months in that department, I guess right now - they are only focused on "trying" to keep customers, rather their employees...  | |
