When we were looking for a new house, the one thing that helped me to choose the location we are in now was the availaility of Verizon's Fiber Network. I signed up online for the 5 Mbps down/ 2 Mbps up service.

Two days after signing up, I recieved a letter, delivered FedEx Saturday delivery, offereing me 6 months of the 15 Mbps service for the same price. So I called and tried to switch, however, since I didn't have Landline service with them, no one could find my account, and I was transferered endlessly. Finally I gave up.

However, since then, the service has been trouble-free. The installer showed up on time and had everything setup in about four hours, which is what I was told to expect. Once finished, he gave me the settings to the router and handed me the software CD. He advised I should install it, but it's not neccesary unless you have to call tech support.

I do loathe the day that I ever have to call Customer Service or Technical support. At my previous residence, I had VZ DSL service, and constantly had problems getting support, since I did not have a VZ landline number. I imagine that the same will apply with this service.

    Looking up accounts

If you've set up an e-mail account with Verizon, tech support can look up your account by that. Also, if you can give them the name written on the account, that usually works as well (as long as it's spelt correctly in the account). Granted it can be a problem sometimes, but the first time you give the tech a callback number, and they close out a ticket with that callback number, they'll ever after be able to look up the account by callback number.

    Getting account info

Next time just click Verizon Central which is a link that would have been put on the desktop to login to your account and settings. Go to bill area and you can see your account number.. That will take care of that..
