I have to start out by saying that I JUST got this service installed about 20 minutes ago, so I'm a little amazed now.

I called on 7/01 to set up an installation for 7/23. That was my first contact, and there was no issue whatsoever setting it up. The customer service reps that I spoke with were very friendly. I decided on the 30Mbps/5Mbps package that they offered along with TV and Phone.

The tech was scheduled to show up today between 8am and 5pm. They could narrow that window down a bit. He got here around 9:00, and finished the install around 2pm. They say in the pre-install information that the installation should take roughly 6 hours. It did. He was very friendly, and there were no issues at all. Verizon had come by previously to install the Fiberoptic line to our house, and we didn't need to be here for that for any reason.

The TV, Phone, and Internet work as advertised. I'm getting 30Mbps / 5Mbps on the test sites that I've tried. There were absolutely NO hitches with the installation at all, it was a breeze. After dealing with Cavtel for a while, it was a VERY pleasant surprise.

Anyway, I'll update again later after doing some line monitoring so that I can make sure there's not heavy packet loss or anything, but the speeds are amazing.

Update: Still going strong! Now down time, solid speeds. I spend most of my time on the wireless, and the wireless router that Verizon provided is nice, as well. I believe it's an 802.11g router, the speeds go up to 54Mbps. For the record, that's plenty. Occasionally, the signal from the wirelss router will get dropped by my laptop, but I think that's just because of where the stuff's setup. A quick relocation of the laptop re-instates the signal. It's just a mild annoyance.

I have very little issue with slow-down at all. It's fantastic. All my friends come over to use our internet now because it's just so much faster than anything else available in my area.

Update (2/13/08): This service still amazes me with it's quality. I can download 700MB files in just a few minutes. Even though the service is advertised at 30/5, I have a hard time believing that I don't get even faster than that. It's incredible. I've had the service for almost a year now, and I haven't noticed ANY downtime. It's always up, always fast, and always solid. It sorta sucks that I haven't had to deal with customer service, because I can't speak to that. But, I won't complain.
