Mom wanted to get out of the dark ages with broadband and decided for what she was paying for cable and phone she would get FIOS. I helped her order and they setup a date for 12/5. on 12/4 they called and said they had to reschedule, no reason given.
12/12 a tech called to verify she would be there and said he would be there by 12. When he didn't come she called and was told her appointment had been changed to 12/24. Nobody asked her if she was available on 12/24 . Anyway after two hours on the phone where we found out that her phone company has been claiming for multiple times that she does not have an account with them (why nobody contacted her about this) we told them to forget it and we will try Comcast instead. BYE BYE VERIZON

| You made the right choice At least verizon is consistent in their abuse of customers.I too have been one of the non-existent customers. The best part isn't the customer service though, it's the billing department.After they have made you totally crazy with the ordering/install/don't exist BS then they really start in on you with a bill that looks like it was prepared by Medicare(in that it makes no sense at all and is indecipherable, inaccurate and totally unresolvable). Basically every FIOS customer has to take the attitude and approach that one day the service will be turned off due to verizons incompetence.Make sure you have all your documentation, records, order #'s, employee names and the times you called. Verizon is a total slimeball, sleazoid outfit.Eventually the way they treat customers will drive them to near bankruptcy and they will start suing customers for bogus payments they were billed for, finally gave up on trying to resolve and were forced to walk away from due to Verizons incompetence and greed.

| Re: You made the right choice Unfortunately the only choices for my Mom that I can find is FIOS via Verizon, DLS via Verizon or Comcast. Comcast goes up to $60 for internet after the initial one year deal with the other services being quite high too. But the more I am reading, here for instance »consumerist.com/search/verizon%20fios/ I am glad we didn't go through with it. All she wants in a faster connection then dialup at a reasonable price  | |
