    Fios started really great,
They came to my house, installed TV, didn't have the order for internet. Why? I have no idea. Calling the center to add it, doesn't work, lines busy, i get transferred in circles while the patient rep waits to get the order.

Day 1- Choppy sound from cable box, had to wait to get that fixed. The rep left without checking it.

First bill: It was supposed to be about $120 a month, it came in at around $340. I'm still not sure how, but there were all types of fees added, wrong plans, and a service charge for multiple pc's and network when i only have 1 pc hardwired into the modem.
This is where my customer service hell started. Couldn't get trough to anyone, kept going in circles. Eventually i got it resolved, but wasn't worth all the time i spent on it.

Now, my wifi just drops. Forget about how horrible their DNS hijacking is, but it just stops working everyday around 5pm. I call for support, give logs and all. Interesting part is that the IP address is still valid, connection strength excellent, but you cannot even ping the default gateway. Everything just stops. I read trough their logs, its like a comedy in there with it trying to renew and ip address every 10 minutes (public). I send them the logs, someone calls me back in 3 days. "Sir, i cant find anything in the logs, i will ship you out a new modem/router. I receive it today, and guess what, its not a router, its a remote control. Ive been on the phone hours, get disconnected, tried different numbers, this sucks.
Their website sucks, you would think i could make a payment online? No, it times out repeatedly. HORRIBLE!!

    Summary:
Cablevision sucked, but worked more often then this one does. In 2 yrs of Optimum online, i had to deal with someone 2 times. With Fios, 4 months, and already spent ridiculous amount of time on the phone, and jumping trough hopeless hoops.
My internet is down, I have a new remote to fix that, and, nobody is picking up any lines. I'm on hold for over 1:19 minutes.
DON'T BOTHER, ITS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE FOR $50 service. Stick with Cablevision for 29.99. It comes down to which works, and sucks less.

    UPDATE:
I've canceled FIOS for over 4 months ago and still cant seem to get the charge removed.
I am still being BILLED> and now it appears that i am on some sort of contract which when i signed up DID NOT EXIST. My TV service is still not canceled.

IF you hate your life, and have nothing to do, please get FIOS.
If you dont hate your life, TRUST ME, it is not worth it. It is like MCI from 1999 took over and started FIOS.

    Seriously?

The Wifi drops every day... ok. You are a member of this site and you don't even know how to change your channel to a clear channel so it doesnt drop and you blame it on Verizon? lol. Come on now do about 10 minutes of research to learn how wireless works and change to a better channel. Your wifi wont drop and you won't have to sit around bitching about the service.

Why aren't you company verizon shills using one of the names that you guys are registered under instead of posting anonymously? THat guy barely mentions wifi- and does mention a bunch of other, legitimate, consistently reported, documented and ignored problems.

Yet you make a weak attempt to single out just one, you try to mock the guy, and you just look like just another of verizons paid shills posting false garbage to cover up your company's terrible service and total disregard for it's customers.

    Re: Seriously?

Well, look at the grand scheme of things.... What other ISP has such a high satisfaction rating? Are there problems? Sure there are. As there are with anything else. But any service with more than 85% favorable rating, ON HERE ALONE has to be doing SOMETHING right. I live in ATT country, and in the boonies to boot, they wouldn't even help me get DSL... I'd LOVE to be able to get FIOS....

Wifi drop?? DNS highjacking after 5 PM, cable box, choppy sound....Sounds like a lot of problems. If DNS is your problem, change your DNS servers, there are plenty free ones out there that are good, opendns is one that I use.

If you think the wifi router is the problem, go buy one, they are cheap, I don't like their router anyway.

Fios doesn't have a cable box, and choppy voice...don't know about that or have heard unless you have voip with vonage or someone else..

I've been a customer for years and know that verizon's customer service is not good, but I've called many times and have never waited on hold for more than 5 or 10 minutes max.

Sounds like you may have multiple problems, maybe with fios, maybe not...and i've never had any service problems, so you may be the exception. At the end of the day, you have the power to leave to another service provider. Good luck.

    Re: Seriously?

I mentioned it further down the post, but just wanted to reply to you,

I don’t think it was the router because machines physically connected to the router were unable to ping the router, external IP's or anything connected internally. So that kind of ruled out just the wireless side of it.

By cable box i really meant the HD Set top box? I’m still used to saying cable box
This was resolved by a tech 3 days later who simply added some type of device to lower the frequency getting to the box. He said that it was too high, and that worked so im happy. Choppy sound on surround sounds twice as bad.

    Customer service,
Since they sent me a remote control instead of a Router, I had to speak to Billing.
Please try to call it now; I think its option 2.
This will probably still be a long hold.

You are definitely correct on switching providers. We only have 2 options here, Cablevision, or FIOS. DSL doesn’t even count for broadband.
The truth is that I was so frustrated and don’t think that anyone should have to experience this for service they pay for. There will always be a delay in time it takes to resolve an issue, as long as someone is attempting to fix it. I couldn’t get trough to anyone to get it fixed.

LOL- I see why that username based on the reply.

    Changing the channel because of Interference;

First, if you knew that, why didn't your support suggest that? I mean, if someone like YOU can think of that, trained support should be able to just do it in seconds.

Second, if there are no other wifi networks in range, how likely is it to be related to that?

Third, I’m sure the Interference is preventing me from pinging the router from a physically connected pc. The pc cant even ping the router, or any other clients on the network . Please forward me info on how to change the channel on a HARDWIRED ETHERNET BASED CONNECTION.

You are an example of why support sucks at Verizon FIOS.

Clarification for some things mentioned so far

Just wanted to comment on a few replies:

    First let’s look at "wifi"-
Changing the channel might be fine, but why would all traffic stop? Did I mention that the PC is physically hardwired into the router isn't able to ping the router? All IP addresses are still valid; signal strength on multiple laptops’ still is excellent, connected at 54mb.
Channel- There are no other wifi networks around my house so there shouldn't be any interference, and if this was the case, this would be a constant issue ? If it was a channel issue (which its not) shouldn't tech support have tried changing it???
    DNS hijacking after 5pm.
This is not the case, DNS hijacking is all the time, 24 hrs a day. Off coarse this was bypassed by using public DNS, but this shouldn't have even been needed to be done.

Also, a Tech came by this weekend to change the router. So far it’s working well.
I also bought a 61' Samsung TV and tried to get an additional HD box. The service center said that they are out of boxes, and are not allowed to take any further orders for it until it becomes available end of Feb. I asked if I can just order it and they fulfill it when it becomes available they said no.
So the tech comes to the house, and I ask him if he has any HD boxes. He says yes, plenty, and the warehouse has plenty in stock. I asked him for one and he brought it in, but said he needed an order number to be able to swap it. He called his department, which sent him to the different dept to do the order. They told him that they don’t have any HD boxes and cannot fulfill any orders. He told them that he's the Tech, and has the box hooked up, and has the Mac and serial numbers if she wants to check. She said no and I couldn’t get any HD box for my new TV.
He went way out his way to help me out, but they refused to activate it claiming not to have any in stock while he's here with a box in his hand. I’m still not sure what that’s about, maybe to many people ordering HD boxes for superbowl?

Anyway, keep posting if you have any further questions.
Please understand that when it works, it works AMAZINGLY well.

    Thanks.

I Love when people make comments like this. FiOS has one of the best ratings on this site. the vast majority of fiOS customers LOVE their service. You have had some bad luck.. simple as that.

Pursuading people to stay with cable is a big joke LOL
