    FiOS triple play review, 02/24/2008================

    Ordered FiOS triple play, via phone on 01/18/2008 (internet ordering failed three times). Installation was scheduled for 02/14. The WEB order status page showed the correct information the next day.

    The tech showed up at ~10 AM on the scheduled installation day. He completed the mechanical/electrical install in approximately 5 hours - had internet and phone immediately after activating the ONT. It took about an hour for the FiOS-TV STBs to be activated after he transmitted the serial numbers.

    The technician was very knowledgeable, neat, competent and cordial (CSRs should take the example to heart).

    This FiOS internet is part of a bundle & 2-yr contract so the total base cost of Phone, Internet and FiOS-TV is discounted from $143/mo to $110/mo.

    Fiber is delivered aerial, ~90' from terminal on pole
    ONT = Alcatel, mounted in the basement (GPON is implemented at my CO)
    Provisioned speeds = 15 / 2 Mbps
    Tested speeds = 14.7 / 1.9 Mbps
    Router (supplied) Actiontec MI424-WR, Rev. C (held as spare)
    Router (employed) = Linksys WRT54GS, V4
    NIM = MOT NIM-100
    Requested Internet over Ethernet and that's how he installed it.
    1 - HD-DVR STB
    1 - SD STB

    I substituted the Linksys router and the NIM-100 for the Actiontec router to avoid any problems with wireless networking (at least until V* gets things finally straightened out with the Actiontec).

    In the ten days since installation, there have been no noticed service glitches in any of the installed products.
