Had a home built in a new development and about 30 days before home completion FIOS was rolled out in the neighborhood. Originally had appointment to install on 02/01/08 but closing was delayed. Called to reset install (to 02/15) days before original date but customer service rep said I had to get back in line and wait until sometime in late March. I complained and he had it pushed up to 02/25. Our home was the 5th built in neighborhood and first to get FIOS so we were not live on the 25th. Said something about paper work at the main office to get our hub turned on. 3 more days pass having to take off from work only to watch a Verizon Van sit outside our home waiting for the main office to figure out how to turn our Hub on. Finally, the big day came and the network has never failed since then. We did have a few problems getting our voice mail stated that took two calls to customer support. Other than that our first week live only gave us 4.5 down and 1.8 up. I decided rather then call to complain, I would just wait a while to see if it would improve and sure enough it did. Speed now is a consistent 12-15 MPS (paying for 15MPS down) down and 1.5-1.8 up. Only other minor beef is how long it takes to load On Demand service. It’s soo SLOW! My guess is Verizon needs to upgrade their old fashioned Motorola boxes to something new that can handle the bandwidth. I like Fios so much that if it was twice the price of Comcast or RCN I would still keep it. All in all Fios is by far the best service ever and I will never miss Comcast, RCN or Direct TV again.
