5mbps/2mbps package,
actiontec router MI424WR
If you want to run your own router (i.e., PC/firewall, WRT54G, etc), INSIST THAT THE INSTALLER RUN CAT5 from the ONT to your router. The installers are being directed to only install a single coax drop to the router (forcing you to use the provided actiontec). There are two good reasons for them doing this: 1. cost - if you get Fios TV, I think they will need to hook up coax to the router, forcing them to run both a coax and cat5, when a single coax is cheaper for them; 2. many older home routers cant keep up with the higher fios speeds (15/2, etc), especially in areas still using pppoe.
If you are a pro, then you will likely want more control than the actiontec router provides, you will need to find a way to convince them to run cat5 to your router, or otherwise setup the actiontec yourself as a coax-ethernet bridge (a waste of power and a router)
Other than that, I must say that of cable, dsl, satellite, etc, my most stable experience has been with VZ fiber. Connection stability is the most important selling point for me.
