I ordered Triple Freedom online and that was rather painless. I was able to use a code to get the $94.95 plan.
I ordered Phone Freedom, FiOS Extreme HD TV, and their 20/5 internet. I was able to pick my installation date and then track the status of my order as it progressed through Verizon's system.
I called the next day to verify everything since I am leery of any internet ordering. I was confirmed and everything was confirmed and on time.
On the day of my installation I received a phone call from the technician confirming my order letting me know he was on his way. Once he arrived we did a survey of my house cabling and where my TV's and computers were located. We also looked at where I wanted the ONT located. He agreed with me and we located it inside. He installed a new Motorola one piece ONT. He removed my existing drop and ran a new Fiber drop. Very nice and he did a professional job with all of the wiring.
I had a HM DVR and 2 SD STB's installed as well as an Actiontec modem.
He checked my signals and replaced one splitter that did not have the necessary high frequency pass through. Every location passed his testing. He used a device that took measurements at each location in my house.
The provisioning of the STB's with the MOCA HM MR DVR along with setting up the phone and wired and wireless internet took about an hour or so.
Everything was brand new and in sealed boxes. Very nice since the other company loves to hand out used garbage. He setup all of my remotes to work with each of my TV's. He setup verified my internet account and he also went over all the functionality from the internet modem to the STB's.
The whole installation from start to finish took 7 hours and I felt my installation was not too complex. He probably could have finished quicker but he was very professional and neat which I appreciated.
So far I am very impressed. The Phone is the same and I'm not seeing any difference. The internet is nice and I'm not sure yet that it is any different than my prior cable service. Speakeasy.net test indicates it is faster. I notice that downloading is amazingly faster than my prior cable service. The HM MR DVR is probably the best part for me. The Verizon DVR is very close to a TiVo experience and coupled with the Multi Room DVR capability makes it untouchable.
I have yet to receive a bill yet so I am not sure how that experience will be based on what I have heard from people I know. The billing can be an issue at first but everyone seems to get it worked out sooner than later.
I'm very happy and I recommend that if you are on the switch fence... Do it!
UPDATE: I just received my first bill and it was better than I even expected. NICE!
UPDATE: 6 months in I couldn't be happier. Great job Verizon!

| FiOS Installation I found that the installer was very knowledgeable. In the past, with other installers, they didn't seem to understand very much about the internet or the setup of the computer. I guess having a Mac threw them a curve.
All in all, I am satisfied. | |
